Legacy - AYS Summer Program 2010
Summer 2010 has started and the AYS is off and running for the next 35 days featuring 77 trips, clinics, and adventures. Some of you have signed up for your favorite dozen trips and a few may have been testing the programs to see if they are up to your standards of what a summer experience should be like. We still have a few spots open in a wide range of trips. The AYS invites you to try out some of our new trips and programs that are part of the Legacy of 2010. Commit in September
This is a huge opportunity for our generation to join together and show our passion for global development. Our generation has been called lazy, misguided, self-centered, and apathetic. Andover Community Skate Park
The Skate Park is getting a shot in the arm with the construction of a new section. Funds raised from the Paul King Memorial Skate-a-thon, including a generous donation from Converse, were specifically allocated to this concrete bowl. Although the new section won't be done in time for the park opening (to be determined), it will establish the Andover Skatepark as the best park in the Northeast.
AYS in Africa
AYS Director Bill Fahey and Assistant Director Glenn Wilson, along with Bill's son, Colton, are heading to the Margaret Okari Children's School in Kisii, Kenya to take part in the Walden Youth Leadership Summit, share & implement youth development programs, and assist with sustainable environmental projects. You can follow their progress with their AYS in Africa blog.
Need to get the job done? Call the Green Team today
The Green Team is an AYS run employment program that provides 9, 10, & 11th grade high school students a foundation of work experience, mentoring, entrepreneurism, life skills training, and community service.
If you have a project that you would like the Green Team to conquer, please email Glenn with details of the project. He will contact you to set up a price quote for the project. Tasks for the Green Team will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The Green Team can conquer a variety of tasks including painting, raking, landscaping, and more.
Pearson Street
We are fully moved into 37-39 Pearson St (right behind Depot Pizza!) and it is where you will find the AYS staff for Summer Program registration. Our phone number is the same and our mailing address is the same - just the office location has changed. Come by and check out our new digs!

The house at Pearson St is a huge opportunity for Andover Youth Services to expand it's programming. There are already a number of after school and evening activities taking place at Pearson St. There are skate board park meetings, fashion show clinics, Pulse meetings, art projects, basketball games and more taking place- and we're not even in there yet! However our new house at Pearson St is not a drop-in center. Youth that go to Pearson St will go there to participate in a specific activity that they have signed up for. Look for a variety of program offerings coming soon.
